How to Play Omaha 8 or Better (Omaha Hi/Lo) Poker Game

Omaha 8 or Better is a world acclaimed poker game. It is also known as Omaha Hi/Lo. It is of two types - Limit Omaha 8 or Better and Pot Limit Omaha 8 or Better.

Omaha 8 or Better poker is played with a 52-card single deck and Random Number Generator (RNG) shuffles the deck of cards in online poker games. The dealer button is activated to start the game and then moves clockwise along the other different active players. Every player can bet once and raise the money thrice, in a single betting round, known as cap. The players can thereafter call or fold by withdrawing. It is possible at any stage of the game.

'Check' is another option available to the player whereby he can skip his turn without betting. Every player has to place the minimum bet for each round of betting. The game of Omaha 8 or Better (Omaha Hi/Lo) has then to proceed with the chips given to each player at the beginning of the game. When a player's chips is insufficient for a bet, he is termed as 'All-in'. It means all the chips in the pot until then, can be used by the player. The bets of other players from the next round are placed in a side pot. The All-in player does not have any right to this pot and is no longer an active player.

Players need to play a move within 30 seconds. 'Showdown' declares the winner of the pot. The best high hand wins either the full or half pot. The best low hand is A, 2,3,4,5. The player needs to qualify to win the low side of the pot and the winner is the player with lowest high card. Straights and Flushes are not considered for low winning hands. A player can play for both the high and low sides of the game.

The number of bets is 4 in Limit Omaha 8 but there is no such restriction in Pot Limit Omaha 8. In both games, the minimum raise should be as much as the previous bet. Maximum raise is equal to the aggregate of the pot, all the bets on the table and the first active player's call. Keep in mind all the rules of the game.
